Having only thumbed the first few pages, I was struck immediately by the
combination of commas and dashes in no fewer than five places on page
one.
Commashes ',--' (along with colashes ':--' and semicolashes ';--'), as
described by Nicholsan Baker in the pedantic The Size of Thoughts, were
used extensively throughout Thackeray, G. Eliot, Proust, Dickens, etc,
etc, etc.
