M&D--more connections

Since I'm German, I would've had the opportunity to read translations, 
but I never did, figuring that translations can never be satisfying. When 
Vineland appeared in German in 1992 or 1993 I checked a few spots of 
which I was already wondering how they could possibly be translated. 
Well, for instance, the German translator changed Preparation H into H2SO4 
which is not bad but suppresses possibly intended connotations.
