Pans?

Was just wondering, here almost on the eve of my 40th, and seeing how TRP appears to receive consistently good reviews...even if it is just to say "Jeez, he writes really good, but I didn't care for the book that much..."--got to thinking whether or not TRP was ever truly panned in a review back before Vineland.  

I read the Vidal "review" a few months back, didn't consider it a pan.  Anyway, please post if any info.
