The ketjap kontroversy--I think it was agreed that Dixon;s favored
condiment was an oriental concoction of , say, thickened soy sauce? So
what is one to think of on page 235, whence England's first pizza is
created: the English are clueless as the jesuit's request for a tomato,
so Dixon "rummagng in his Surveyor's Kit, has come up with the Bottle
of Ketsap, that he now takes with him everywere. "That do?"
So did the first British pizza (in Pynchon's universe, at least)
consist of dough, soy sauce and anchovies?????
