The first few pages of the "America" section (not a spoiler)

I've not been discussing M&D beyond the cover because
(unlike the expert from SLATE) I think I should read the
WHOLE book before I evaluate it - But I just
finished the first dozen or so pages of Part 2
"AMERICA" and it is some of the loveliest prose
I've ever encountered - It demostrates what a novel is
for and what power a novel can have - So this
is not a review of M&D but merely an interim report
