	I vote that the narrator is, in fact, Thomas Pynchon. Although the
phrase "gifted actor" is somewhat misleading, I think everyone on the list
knows about TRP's bit part as an Imperial Storm Trooper in *Return of the
Jedi* (1983), an experience that later inspired our hero to write
*Vineland* (1990), set in a town near the redwood forest where the
Endor scenes were filmed. (In case you were wondering just *which*
Storm Trooper is TRP, just look for the one with the really good dental
work. Oops: they've all got helmets. Never mind.)
