Although this is a day late in coming, let me wish the inimitable Mr P.
a happy 60th birthday. In honor of his soixantieme, I did nothing but
stay home and think about reading M & D, which I'd purchased at Modern
Times on Valencia, Wednesday. It's still in the brown bag it came in
(like so much scotch), on the floor next to some dirty socks I forgot to
wash. I want to wait a short while before reading it, since I'm already
in the middle of James Agee's, "Let Us Now Praise..." and Samuel C.
Floriman's, "The Existential Pleasures of Engineering" as well as a book
on schizophrenia and another book on sobriety. I should finish them all
in a few days unless, of course, I should seriously consider becoming
sober, in which case I will give all my reading material to the smelly
guy who runs the book-mo shopping cart down the road. I'll clink
something tonite however, and wish the man who opened my eyes to great
and interesting literature many happy years of continued productivity
and flagrant solitude. Thanks, man.
Sheep Counting Me,
