The LA Times reviewed the book quite favorably with a few spoilers today in
its (5-11-97) Sunday Book Review section, featuring it with a headline
illustrated by a flask of lightening that hints at lightning striking
twice. Lumping in with "V." and "GR" and in juxtaposition to COL and VL,
the author called it a masterpiece with very little qualification. It
appears to have been read and appreicated with some 18th Century awareness
on the reviewers behalf. Some interesting stuff about Pynchonians arguing
with some of his points, but also, a close reading which justifies the
moniker of masterpiece.
BTW, the local SuperCrowns advertize the book as a "Major Literary Event"
on the back cover.
