T. Coraghessan BOYLE also wrote World's End, 1987, a book one is often
reminded of when reading M&D, hence perhaps the editor's choice. Takes
place in Peekskill, on the Hudson, NY, author's birthplace. In 1969, during
the "riot". A book about "treason", tracing a pattern of "treason" back in
time through the McCarthy era, back to the Revolutionary War and Benedict
Arnold's treason and ultimately all the way back to 1663-1669, when the Van
Rensselaer-like "patroons" wre trying to impose feudal system to Dutch
farmers (another riot, another case of "treason", runs in the Van Brunt
family) . One of the first novels of the new "Post-Modern Historical" trend
to have appeared
