According to highly secret sources, TRP did do the first draft of the script for SPEED II.  They said he needed the money.  Unfortunately, successive rewrites by overworked hollywood hacks and overpaid studio executives changed the script so much that only one scene by TRP actually remained in the movie.  In that scene, Sandra Bullock, dressed in an orlon muumuu, has a special banana dinner with the captain and several other prominent guests on the cruise, including a mechanical ostrich named "Chuck."  This scene, filmed in top secrecy (TRP was rumored to have visited the set), is not in the final cut of the movie, having ended up on the cutting room floor.  Look for it in the SPEED II director's cut, coming to a fine video store near you sometime in the Summer of '98.
