The folks at the East India Company don't have a clue. The most expensive coffee today is Kopi Luak (also Kopi Luwak). It costs about $100 /lb, green. It has the special distinction of having passed through the intestinal tracks of luaks, small Indonesian civet cat-like mammals. The best of the crop goes to Japan, which is true of all of the world's premium coffees.
