Well,

I'm about 1020 pages into a copy of the manuscript, and haven't
finished part 2 yet. It starts out at the final game of the playoff series
when Bobby Thompson hits the shot heard round the world, and what happens in
the stands when the ball arrives. The history of the ball is the unifying(?)
theme(?).
This book is as much about baseball as Moby Dick is about fishing.
I'm not really a DeLillo fan, but think this might be the book that
fans have been waiting for.
Next year's literary awards are going to be very interesting. Oh, to
be a fly on the wall. Think TRP would go public for a Nobel?

                                Toodles,

                                        Mike
