Franzen's novel about St Louie is out in paperback--I only mention it
because when I was perusing it the first page I opened it to says
something like: "what are you paranoid"?. the receiver of these words
of wisdom then recites a litany of folks, one of which is: "Do you know
Thomas Pynchon"?
I read the first 50 pgs in Bonds and Ignoble and wasn't too impressed
with the underlying story line--the appointment of a Indian police chief.
One of the same problems I found with SGE by Ruff--nothing is grounded
enough in reality to make the extrordinary, extrordinary!
anyway...
