Powell's is amazing beyond compare; their selection, range, amenities,
organization (check out their Web site), helpful staff, deli for lounging
and reading ... can't say enough good things about them. Bring large sums
of money when you visit -- or leave your money locked up in a bank. No
trip to Portland, Oregon, is complete without a visit to Powell's.
I am in complete agreement. The main downtown store is
phenomenal, and the itty-bitty suburban ones are usually bigger
and better than your run-of-the-mill B-word chain store. I live
in Eugene (110 miles south of Powell's) and work for a company
near their Beaverton store. Each trip I find books in each that
are a joy and surprise.
Powell's often has every book by an author in every
edition.

M&D Spoiler pg .. arg! I know there's a section early
on, let's call it pg 50 to be safe:
Just as I began reading about the calender correction,
bandied about as the Eleven Days, a discussion erupted on
ORACLE-L, an email list devoted to the Oracle RDBMS with a focus
on server issues, on how to write a select that would result
in displaying the months that have calender corrections. I
offered a quote from M&D but have yet to hear back... :)
Some are saying there is a 1512 and then a 1552 event.
I will go by the library today.
