Jules, you've been on the list long enough to've noticed that while there
may be (although I doubt it) a few academics on the list who are not big
TRP fans that most of the listers, academic or not, are in fact big fans. 
Please don't get that well-rehearsed look of betrayed innocence on your
face and say you didn't know this.

For me and I believe for some others the fun of this list has less to do
with the "scholarly discussion of his work" than it does with
communicating with an interesting and intelligent self-selected group of
people on a wide variety of topics.

PS.  None of this should be taken as an attack on criticism of Pynchon.
Such posts are as welcome as any others here, in my opinion.

PPS. Where _are_ those magic decoder rings and T-shirts?
