Hey, some of you, cut it out!--God damn it, please

Having returned to the list at the behest of a friend who claimed that
there were interesting things happening, I`m disappointed to discover that
a puerile technophile attitude persists.
Not so long ago, some of you were howling at John Krafft because he didn`t
use the subject header to filter out the "On this day" messages. Now you
are complaining again, this time because he asks you not to quote at an
unnecessary length. You claim he could use a filter to avoid such
quotations, or, as one wit suggests, use the scrollbar.
That readers of Pynchon should not be aware that there are human
limitations to the amount of information one can process, whatever the
power of the machine being used, absolutely amazes me. Perhaps it
shouldn`t. After all, those capable of `reading` such a vast amount of
e-mail per day no doubt put a similar proportion of their powers of
concentration to the reading of the author in question.
