Is it clear that they don't cross? Or is the crossing possibly omitted,
like the crossing of the Atlantic?

Is that a possibility? Are there other possibilites? Discontinuity a la
the above crossings? Could Lancaster have been elsewhere, or a larger
area, at the time? Nowadays, there is a Lancaster county as well as a
Lancaster....
BTW, another good reason to include page numbers in the header or elsewhere
is to help people find the exact place in M&D being cited.
