     Oh am I salivating now!  Gonzo'd prolly write to Pynchon for a promo 
     copy, then ask for cash, then invite 'Ole Tom down to Woody Creek for a 
     few shots of Chivas--the 18 yr-old stuff, not that 12 yr shit.  They'd 
     become best of pals, Gonzo'd get him to write a few pieces with him, 
     then hit Vegas for a some gamblin' and guzzlin', then turn it all into 
     Vol. 49 of the Gonzo Papers.      
     
More likely he'd invite Tom out to Owl Farm, load him up with peyote, then turn 
the mace on him when he starts babbling about his long-lost love, Chrissie.  It 
all ends with our Tom, naked and sobbing, beating his fists bloody against the 
door of Thompson's locked house while Thompson sits inside, drowning out the 
agonized screams by blasting the Allman brothers at top volume.
