I also find the TofV to tie in with the themes of love and loss, usually
related to Mason's state after losing Rebekah. She passed over the face
of his life for such a short, yet wonderful and joyous, period of time,
only to disappear. Mason's constant wonderings/wishing of her return seem
to parallel the expected return of the TofV in the future.
Seems that for most people, it is only a short matter of time after
falling in love, that they will fall out of it, or lose their love through
more extreme means.
A depressing thought, but for the most part true. And I've found the
combination of the TofV with Mason's musings/meloncholy to parallel this.
