DFW & TRP

Can we obtain some insights into the difference between DFW &
TRP via musical analogy? TRP is, to me, equivalent to Neil Young.
A homegrown rare bird, instantly recognizable in all his works,
by turns melancholy, angry and frivolous. And as when Young
was chided at the "We Are the World" recording sessions for
singing "off-key," and replied "Off-key? That's my whole style!",
we can only be grateful for TRP's eccentricities and "shallowness"
and refusal to "write nicely".
Meanwhile, DFW is Counting Crows.
