Now just hold on there.  Maybe he just doesn't want to be confused with
other David Wallaces, such as the one who wrote "Reflections on the
Education of G. H. Mead," which appeared in the American Journal of
Sociology 72 (1967).  Would you want to accuse Mary McGarry Morris (author
of "Vanished") of a "pretension to grandiosity" (whatever that is) before
finding out whether she just didn't want to be confused with Mary Morris
(author of "House Arrest")?

I wonder what Chris would have to say about this.
