complex, yes. tough to read, sometimes, tho m&d isn't tough at all,
methinks. v had me sweating for about 100 pages after the initial
sailor's grave stuff, esp the 'in which stencil, a quickchange artist .
. . impersonations' chapter, tho i was drop-dead sick and maybe the mind
wasn't functioning so well. gr is a monster, hard to hold much less
grasp, tho after a couple unsuccessful attempts to get thru it, and then
after getting in to donald barthelme (snow white scared me for a while),
then pynchon's other stuff, i feel ready.
