lots of big, big books coming out lately (delillo's new one, vollman,
tp, ij, murakami (sp?) has a 700 pager due in oct, and others i can't
call up at the moment.

i agree, and add that dfw has said over and over that his intention with
ij was 'to write something sad,' which i think is both sincere and
achieved.
