A-and didn't Althusser attempt to do in Mrs. A? I've heard it blamed on
Alzheimer's--or was that just an excuse?

>>>>Althusser needed po-mo to explain him, He was driven into
a frenzy of desire the first time he was kissed at age 30 by Helene.
After making violent love (was this what almost did her in?) and she
left he went into a state of madness. These spells were periodic over
the years usually coming in February. (Picked this up from the Lacan
bio I've been reading.)

I got the po-mo idea from something Craig said this morning. Althusser
was very inconsistent in the treatment he accepted for his bouts of
melancholia and schizophrenia--uncool things like electro-shock
treament and chemotherapy in total contrast to his views on madness.
