Surely the dialogue between those of us who have plumped for one tendency 
or another is of use to those who have not made up their minds.  In any 
polarised debate there will be some who will simply state a position
irrespective
 of the detail of the post they are countering and some who will attempt to
point 
out the particular inconsistencies in their critic's perspective. When I am
debating
I aim not for conversion but at sowing (and germinating) the seeds of doubt.
