reading rots the mind

Brian sed:

However, it's my experience that usually it's uncritical reading

where the reader expects to be entertained that does this. It's the
state

of being passive that really hurts, no matter what field it's in. Anyone

who reads too much will find that they aren't taking enough time to react

to what they've read.

------------------------------------------------------

Don't underestimate entertainment. Maybe I'm getting old, but novels
that "don't move", get rather tiresome after awhile. Two cases in point:
"Miss Macintosh, My Darling" and "Lookout Cartridge" which I've been
reading over the weekend. Yes, there's something to learn there, I
think, but geez, get a move on. Humor helps, too. Your description of
reading sounds like work and not much fun at all.
