Ok, to settle this once and for all, and I do apologize for any waylaying of
the Procedures at Hand, I scanned James Michener's __Covenant__ and couldn't
find any passages about the British red-necks or anything else. Aside from
Boer, and TrekBoer, the entire meanings as previously listed are all I could
find, that Boer meant everything from an uncouth, rural person to a
farmer/neighbor/Dutch farmer/pioneer in Zuid Afrika etc. etc.
Ah well... thanks for playing "Etymology For Fun and Profit, (mainly Fun)"
with me. Just as a Fun and Diverting Red Herring, anyone notice that
Mason's ex-wife is "Rebekah", using the Dutch spelling?
