New York Pynchon List will say so long to Will Karlin at Fraunces
Tavern on Thursday, 29th May, at 7PM.

The Tavern, where all the bartenders are named Gershom, and all the
barmaids Shirley, is the site of General George Washington's farewell
address to his officers at the end of the Revolutionary War, and the
second best place in this leave-taking world for bidding adieu to
one's beloved.** Regrettably, the Museum is closed at cocktail hour,
but copies of the General's speech will be provided by yours truly for
     reference consultation.

Fraunces Tavern is located at 54 Pearl Street, at the corner of Pearl
and Broad. It is accessible from the 4/5 Lexington Ave Subway (to
Bowling Green), the 1/9 IRT local (to South Ferry), the 2/3 IRT
express (to Wall St.), the N/R (to Whitehall St.), and probably some
others, but my Ear became flaccid at this point and lost the rest of
the prerecorded message into the unheard Void.

I haven't heard from the guest of honor as yet (or from very many of
the New Yorkers, for that matter), so, if he hasn't recovered from his
post-graduation hangover, we'll toast him in his absence. Faera
Siegel, offspring of Jules, will be in attendance, so at least I won't
     be drinking alone.

     Chris

**The first is the airport at Casablanca, shweet-haht.
