hypnogogic deconstruction

During a bout with insomnia Monday night, I gave up trying to fall asleep
and began reading M&D. After reading for quite a while, I grew quite sleepy
but I was determined to finish the chapter. I began to notice that the text
began to seem extremely clear, that I could read faster and faster and
understand more and more with almost supernatural ease. Then I noticed that
it was not the meaning of the words in the usual sense that was important
but the physical shape of the printed sysmbols. The lines on the page began
to look as though they were 3D, each line like a twig with some words behind
the page and some in front but with a message beyond the page that could not
be put into words. As is typical during a hypnogogic episode, it seemed
vivid and real and terribly important.

It now seems clear that I spend way too much time reading this list.
