Some stuff

I find it interesting, to say the least, that over the last 20 years
MORE than 300 tons of DU projectiles have been fired into tanks and
other targets on the side of a mountain just outside of Socorro, NM.
This is the NMERI site, operated by UNM (where I work). There has
been no observable degradation of the health of the local residents.

On the other hand, when I was in Nam (67-68), I often saw
radiation-suited techs with Sandia Labs logos on their backs
embarking and disembarking from Otter aircraft, carrying
scintillometers and other radiation detection equipment. The word was
that they were dusting rice fields with plutonium oxide. You'll find
that there was almost endemic stomach and intestinal cancer in VN
shortly after this period. The US forces apparently thought that the
Viet Cong would be poisoned by the rice but it seems that almost
all of it was stolen by ARVN forces. (Big surprise.)

Our smallpox blankets have definitely gone high-tech.
