PYNCHON PUCKERS UP: Does the novelist Thomas Pynchon really read
'Pucker Up', the
"pan-sexual erotic 'zine"? Yup -- after all, the 'zine is edited by
his niece, Tristan Taormino. the 26-year-old Wesleyan graduate clearly
didn't inherit her uncle's famous reclusiveness. She also publishes an
annual series called BEST LESBIAN EROTICA. "Those three words basically
sum it up," she says. "I'm kind of out-there." Now that St. Martin's
has just released a 'zine anthology that Taormino co-edited, A GIRL'S
GUIDE TO TAKING OVER THE WORLD, Pynchon's niece is tackling the sort of
autobiographical work her uncle has so far avoided : a memoir about her
late father, gay writer Bill Taormino.
