A sort of Pynchonian adventure

Last week I was in NYC with my kids and we got into a cab to go uptown - In
NYC cabs now they have these little tape loops of New York personalities
reminding you to buckle-up and take your packages - The voice in our cab
was Jackie Mason so I had to try to explain who Jackie Mason was to my kids
- As we got out of the cab we saw standing on the corner, as if he was
waiting for us,  Jackie Mason - I thought to myself at the time that this
only happens in melodramatic novels (and I think melodrama is one of the
tools used by Pynchon)
