Precession and MD

I haven't read all the stuff on the webpage yet,
but has anyone noted that the word "precession"
(as in Baudrillard's famous essay "The Precession of
Simulacra" that defines the simulation) also refers
to astronomy?  Is MD merging these two meanings of
the word?
