Unfortunately, "M&D sucks" "No it's great" doesn't do much to add to any
reader's understanding or appreciation of M&D, or any other Pynchon novel
-- there's that zany excluded middle again...

Examining what's actually in the book, discussing it with other people who
are paying attention to it, digging deeper into the book, seeing how it
links up to Pynchon's other works, disagreeing -- that takes time and
patience, attention to detail.
