JOHN GARDNER CONFERENCE

The FIRST ANNUAL JOHN GARDNER CONFERENCE will be held at Genesee Community
 College in Batavia, NY on April 3 & 4, 1998.  This is a Call For Papers,
 Workshops, Roundtables.
 
 We are seeking one-page abstracts of proposals for this first John Gardner
 Conference.  Topics concerning his fiction, non-fiction, operas, drama or
 poetry will be considered.  In addition, sessions on approaches to teaching
 his works, his methods of teaching, and on using his works for creative
 writing will be considered.  The audiences for this conference will range
 from college faculty and graduate students to community college and high
 school faculty.  All abstracts must be received by November 30, 1997.  The
 proceedings of the conference will be published on our website at

 BTW, arrangements are being made for interested attendees to visit the John
 Gardner Collection at the Unversity of Rochester and to take a SUNLIGHT
 DIALOGUES tour of Batavia.
