Modest business opportunity

How soon we forget (sigh).  What happened to the promised efforts to 
moderate ourselves?  Maybe some people should have stayed away if  all they
were going to do when they came back was be lazy, rude and smartassed.
Please stop quoting old messages.  Why aim your comments at people you assume
aren't reading?

So here's the business opportunity.  Would someone like to start a value-added
remailing service that would take the Pynchon-l digest, edited out all the
quoted messages, edit out the most egregiously off-topic posts (using not
too heavy a hand: I did laugh outloud at that "capital of California" joke, 
and I wouldn't want to have missed recent lyrical intimacies), and filtering
out all posts by certain nuisance contributors [sorry about the lack of 
parallelism there, which I can't now go back and fix in this editor], and mail
the resulting re-digests to busy, paying customers?

If we had a strong-arming list moderator, she'd kick anyone who  quotes this
message in responding to it off the list.
