An ode from the eighteenth century. Or, why I didn't bother commenting
on Mittelwerk's boorish "I rammed her..." title/post.
Deeper to wound, She shuns the Fight:
She drops her Arms, to gain the Field:
Secures her Conquest by her Flight:
And triumphs, when She seems to yield.
So when the Parthian turn'd his Steed,
And from the Hostile Camp withdrew;
With cruel Skill the backward Reed
He sent; and as He fled, He slew. (Matthew Prior (1718)
So there. Not silence; removal from battle against an icky adversary.
Dana
P.S. I am glad to see Vaska back. And Andrew--I don't think we've
heard from you in a while? ?
