Bodhi-dharma is said to have come to China in approx AD 520, where he
founded the school that became known as Zen. I think it's quite debatable
whether he died in China, returned to India, or did in fact go to Japan. 
The Japan scenario is fairly unlikely, as are the biographies that claimed
he lived to be 150.
