I have to second this: a great text, long since available in English, and an
interesting read, to boot. And, before any of you out there get scared, not
to say intimidated, Iragary was in Toronto some years back, giving a
graduate summer seminar. My partner at the time attended the whole thing --
I was away in Europe, unfortunately -- and swore later that she was
unfailingly gracious to the men in the course. To the women, too, but I
suppose what left him pleasantly befuddled was that Luce was quite willing
to talk Hegel with him after class, a truly rare amount of attention to get
from a major scholar-theorist when you're just a lowly grad student
yourself. A nice woman, Irigaray.
