I am obliged to ask - What does the above mean? Is such a statement
a symptom of a disease, is it overkill, or is it acceptable?
This sounds like a trick question.
But, seriously, if I were reading my quip it would suggest to ME that
maybe Dana didn't really NEED to call on such big guns as Derrida and Barthes
or whoever to say that she's not the least bit interested in an author's intentions
when she reads his sexist metaphors but maybe she's correct regardless
of how she wants to put it which is fine.
Or it might suggest that Mackin is just running off at the mouth again.
This probably sounds too flippant. I thought Charles' post was fine too.
