Gender Matters

Can folks here at least fake Pynchon references in these gender-related
discussions?

Can folks here discuss gender matters without resorting to personal
insults?

Can folks here be a tad more respectful of feminist positions?  (In other
words, if you've got problems with them, address them intellectually and
not simply by sneering at them and their proponent(s).)  I'd expect people
who read Pynchon 1) to at least care about gender issues and 2) to keep
cool when reading attempts to address them.  

Once again I'm hearing a little buzz about people wanting to drop off. 
What kind of a list if this if feminists points of view can't even be
advanced without triggering immediate and ongoing opprobrium?
