The earth must be slowing down at an alarming rate, because every day
seems to last forever around here.

Well why not? (AD)
I seem to remember reading somewhere (in a book by Stephen Gould I
think) that the earth's rotation is, and has been, slowing down. A
"day", now, is longer than in the distant past (therefore, fewer in a
"year"), but shorter than in the future. Does anyone know if there is
any progressive change in the time that it takes the earth to orbit the
sun (our "year")?
Sorry to muddy the waters.
