A-and, the latest New Yorker has a very good interview with Rushdie by
Christopher Hitchens, in which Rushdie tells about his meeting with
Pynchon and amplifies on that parallel experience of hiding out. Also
tells how Our Guy talked his ear off until way past midnight, and how
great it was.
