Could the Wehrmacht have overrun Europe without the help of 
US automakers? According to a story in Monday's Washington 
Post, both Ford and General Motors may have actively 
collaborated with Adolf Hitler's Germany during World War 
II. Testimony from former slave laborers under the Nazis 
raised the issue -- Ford is already facing a lawsuit -- and 
now some historians are supporting the claim that the parent 
companies profited from Hitler's war effort through their 
German subsidiaries. Both Ford and GM deny the allegations, 
and are lining up legal support.

SWISS REJECT LEGAL DRUGS (WRLD 3:00 am)

A proposed plan to make Switzerland the only country in the 
world where anyone 18 or older could buy their narcotic of 
choice, from marijuana to heroin, at state-run outlets. 
Voters trounced the measure 3 to 1. The defeat was expected 
but supporters, trying to eliminate a drug Mafia, had hoped 
for more support.

Exxon and Mobil, the top two oil companies in the United 
States, are prepared to announce the largest industrial 
merger in history on Tuesday. That's if the two companies 
can agree on a price. It's a welcome development in an 
industry that has watched a worldwide crude oil glut that 
has pushed prices to their lowest in 25 years. The 
consolidation comes on the heels of British Petroleum's 
acquisition of Amoco. Analysts say regulatory issues are not 
a concern for Exxon and Mobil.
