The start of the Vietnam conflict has its roots in the collapse of 
French "empire" in SE Asia. US involvement preceeded its committment 
of troops. At the time of Dien Ben Phu (sp?) the Eisenhower 
administration was supporting the french with hundreds of millions 
per year. Ike's VP ? RMN.
