Hoping I'm not being too thin skinned about this let me reiterate the
comment I made in one of the aforementioned posts, and then add a little.
"I know that everyone here already knows...[this stuff]...but I have this
hope that someone who doesn't may dig this stuff out of some archive
somewhere somewhen. So here's more than you probably want to hear, again."
I believe that we should ferret out not only obviously obscure references,
but also ones that may become obscured with the passage of time, and ones
that may not be as obvious to readers in other countries.
And then it generates posts like Sebastian Dangerfield's on the Gulf of
Tonkin incident that is highly informative and at the same time shows how
highly-charged the words "war in Vietnam" are.
A-and before I began, I though Dick Nixon was a complete, imperative sentence.
