"Life, A User's Manual" is the other Perec book I have gratefully devoured
- this too has the fantastic wild photo of the author on the back. While
we're on the subject of books (for a change (not)), I recently started
reading Infinite Jest, but gave up after 50 or so pages, as I wasn't
enjoying it - it seemed to have no soul to it and just be concerned with
showing how "clever" the writer is (apart from one or two good bits). Is it
worth persevering with? I have now picked up Russell Hoban's "Kleinzeit" -
now THIS is a wonderful book!

ps. apology accepted, though we try to distance ourselves from colonialism
these days down here in little NZ.
