We do read ourselves, yes. I find that my students teach that to me almost everyday of the
semester. I recall a few years ago, when we brought in job candidates for interviews that most of
us read ourselves: one colleague thought a particular candidate was elitist; another thought he was
unbalanced; I thought he was quite wonderfully theorized in the classroom...Funny stuff.
