Not being a fan of the genre, I can't match these horrowshow lists.
But the scariest film I remember off the top of m' head was another
Polanski number, _The Tenant_. Anyone else seen it?
Roman's not only the director but the central figure, who
initially meets the former occupant of his new apartment
wrapped in bandages--a woman who jumped out the
window--and by the end of the film the other occupants
have "observed" enough weird coincidences between
him and her that he is somehow converted into her, and
at the end of the film sees himself coming to visit before
moving into his new apartment . . . nifty premise, nicely
done. Don't know if it's on video, though.
Too bad farce isn't the topic. We could talk about
Trent Lott and all those conscience-stricken House
members. But who's going to turn into Bill Clinton
at the end of the film?
