The legend grows. This from today's NYT forum.
"They weren't drafting mommies in the war in Vietnam. But as a
fighting female, I assure you, I have been shot at and
engaged in hand to hand combat in civilian life. You see,
darlings, I am one of those dreadful females who forced open
the construction trades and in the 1970s, this required
combat skills, which I have to a great extent. It is rather
amusing to engage in a fight with a burly male who forgets that I
carry 100+ pound materials around all day long. Despite
bulging muscles and the fact I take a proper stance when
challenged, many a man still took my invitation to throw the
first blow. If they go first, they become off balance by the
nature of throwing a shot and I can then target the point of
contact, which was often the nose for all these brave men were taller
than me and defended the detierre instead of the face.
Uppercuts are so much fun!"
I think she meant "der"-ierre.
Jane, can I have your baby?
love,
cfa
